Leaves In My Yard

Do you ever walk outside and see the leaves on the ground. Sometimes I wonder where they came from. After yesterday's storms passed through we have tons of leaves in our yard but the leaves are not from trees that are around our yard or even on our street. I look at the leaves and  wonder how far they are from their tree, how long it took them to get there and how long they are going to stay.  Then it makes me think of people. When I meet new people or just see random people throughout my day. I wonder where they from, how far they are from home, did they make it there from their own decision or the choice of someone else? How long will our paths stay crossed? I just wonder what their "story" is. Because everyone has a story. They are all different like the different types of leaves.  Take time to look around, who has God allowed in your life that you are supposed to pour God's love into them, through you? Because just like a single leaf, one gust of wind and they are gone....🍂🍁🍃

Our New Addition

We have a new addition to our family! Her name is Angel and she is a 8 week old Maltizue puppy. We have waited along time to get the right pup for our family and she is the one!
When we got her she was so tiny, weighing only 1 1/2 lbs.  She is a little sweet blessing to our family!

10 Great Thanksgiving Books for Children

It's potty time!

Mary has been potty training for about two weeks and has done a great job. She was much easier than Matthew to introduce to the potty. I don't know if that is just a girl/boy difference but I do know it is a blessing.

We began by using a little training potty. In which she wanted to use the BIG potty. So I purchased a small Minnie Mouse training potty seat for the big potty. It did not fit the regular seat correctly and was wobbly so she became unsure of using the big potty.

I had remembered seeing a toilet seat with both a training seat and regular seat made together and knew that is what I wanted. I sent Shane on a hunt for it and he delivered!

I have never been so excited about a toilet seat!!! We installed it in less than 4 minutes, it was super easy.

I am ready to say "Goodbye diapers!"

Of coarse I have a picture of the Bemis Training Toilet Seat.

Blessings, Brooke

Blog cleaning today

Reading God's Word? Where do I start?

Do you ever have a hard time trying to figure out where to start when reading your Bible? Old Testament? New Testament? Sometimes it can just be too overwhelming, then you get frustrated and find something else to do.

Most people, including myself, know they should (and want) to read God’s Word.  They understand that it is God’s message to them and He expects them to read it.  However, for various reasons, many find this duty an intimidating task.  It's like a mountain they fear they cannot climb, or even just want to hear other people talk about what is like on the top rather than climb it themselves.  The Bible seems so big.  They do not understand how it is organized.  The vocabulary and grammar may be difficult.  Many people just give up and never read the Bible—or at least never read it through.

Here are a few ways to make reading/studying your Bible a little less overwhelming:
  1. A Bible Reading Plan takes into account the great number of people who do not have a strong background in the word of God.  This plan gives you a stepping-stone so that you do not have to read straight through every word of scripture the first time.  It starts you with the basics.  After you feel comfortable at this level, then you can go on to the entire Bible. There are various reading plans as follows.

    • Bible in a Year-Read the entire Bible in one year using chapters from the Old Testament, New Testament and the Book of Psalms.

    • Straight Through the Bible-Read the entire Bible in one year, from Genesis to Revelation.

    • Different Topics-Each day of the week, you'll be reading from a different section of the Bible.

    • New Testament and Old Testament-Read the whole Bible, with something from both Testaments each day.

    • The Story of the Bible-A chronologically arranged reading of the story of the Bible.

    • New Testament, Psalms & Proverbs-Get the New Testament, Psalms and Proverbs in one year.

  2. A Bible Study can guide you through a lesson

Thanksgiving Snack Mix

On holidays I try to send something the kids in Matthew's class would like to snack on. So I came up with a thanksgiving snack mix today. It has three ingredients and is so easy to make (aka pour in a big bowl and mix). After you mix it together put it in little treat bags.

-Thanksgiving Snack Mix-
Pumpkin Spice Marshmallows
Reese's Pieces - same colors as Indian corn
Bugles regular flavored  look like a cornucopia

Election Day 2012- I think I'll just stay at home!

To get out and go vote or stay warm and comfy at home?
Is that the question?

NO!

A few days ago, while out to eat, I overheard a conversation between two young adults. They were talking to each other while staring down at their "smart" phones. The first one asked the second, "Are you gonna vote next week?"  The second one replied, without missing a beat while she was texting, "I'm not sure, I think it will be too crowded. I wish I had an APP for that. It would be so much easier."

WHAT!!!!!! Did I just hear... "I wish there was an APP for that"!!!!

Someone gave their LIFE so that we can have the FREEDOM to VOTE!

In our world of smart phones and networking we have become so lazy to the things that actually matter. Yes, I enjoy my iPhone just as much as the next guy, but there are times when we MUST put them away so we can "focus on the road ahead". Our future will not come from an APP. We have to get out and be thankful for the freedoms we have and stand up for them!!!

For you have been called to live in freedom, my brothers and sisters. But don’t use your freedom to satisfy your sinful nature. Instead, use your freedom to serve one another in love.  For the whole law can be summed up in this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself. -Galatians 5:13

We have freedom now, because Christ made us free.
So stand strong in that freedom. -Galatians 5:1a

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son,
that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. -John 3:16

Today I will vote according to what the Holy Spirit has laid on my heart.
I urge you to do the same!
